Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh – Summary
After the massive success of Kesari (2019), Akshay Kumar returns with Kesari Chapter 2, a historical drama that explores the lesser-known yet significant aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919. Unlike its predecessor, which focused on the Battle of Saragarhi, this sequel delves into the legal and political repercussions of one of India’s darkest days under British colonial rule.
The movie follows his tenacious battle against the British Raj, highlighting his courtroom confrontations, political struggles, and the immense pressure from both colonial authorities and Indian revolutionaries. It showcases his efforts to uncover government documents, demand accountability, and bring global attention to British atrocities in India.
One of the most innovative elements of Kesari Chapter 2 is its teaser, which opens with a chilling 30-second audio segment before any visuals appear. This unique storytelling technique immerses audiences in the horror of Jallianwala Bagh through sounds of gunfire, screams, and chaos, creating a hauntingly real experience.
Joining Akshay Kumar in the film is R. Madhavan in a pivotal role, along with Ananya Panday, whose character remains under wraps but is expected to add depth to the narrative. The film is said to portray historical figures like Mahatma Gandhi, Winston Churchill, and Indian leaders of the time, further enriching the storyline.
Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, the film centers on Sir C. Sankaran Nair, a fearless lawyer and former President of the Indian National Congress, who played a crucial role in challenging the British government over the massacre. Nair, a strong advocate for justice, risked everything to expose the truth behind the brutal killing of innocent Indians and sought legal action against British officials. Akshay Kumar takes on the powerful role of Nair, bringing his compelling story to life.
Scheduled for a theatrical release on April 18, 2025, Kesari Chapter 2 promises to be a powerful retelling of India’s fight for justice and independence, showcasing courage, legal battles, and the resilience of freedom fighters. With a compelling narrative, stellar performances, and a gripping historical backdrop, this film is set to leave a lasting impact on audiences worldwide.
